Chip In $1

In a handful of states, early voting has already started. Ballots have been sent to military and other overseas voters. Given the unprecedented nature of this election season and our campaign in particular, it's important to answer a few questions regarding how to vote for Evan McMullin.

Here is the latest map showing Evan's status on the ballot:

We either already have or expect to have very soon official write-in status in 32 states. If you live in one of these states, please follow any instructions on the ballot or posted at the polling place regarding how to properly cast your write-in vote. If you have any questions at all while casting your vote, you can ask the election supervisor at your polling location.

In each of these states, please write “Evan McMullin” in the space provided for write-in votes for President. If there is a space provided to cast a write-in vote for Vice President, please write “Nathan Johnson.”

Most states will honor the "intent of the voter" and forgive minor spelling errors, but it's still a good idea to bring a notecard with these names on it as a reference.

In the states that either don't allow write-in votes or had early deadlines to qualify as a write-in, we encourage our supporters to still write in Evan McMullin. It is inconceivable that some states would not allow their residents to vote for who they want and is worthy of being protested. We will be fighting to ensure that every vote for Evan McMullin is counted.

It's also important to note that, contrary to rumor, if your write-in vote for President is ruled invalid for any reason, your votes for down-ballot races will still be honored. You can cast a write-in vote in any jurisdiction in the United States secure in the knowledge that it will not have any effect whatsoever on the rest of your ballot.

You may be wondering why we are asking you to write in “Nathan Johnson” and not Mindy Finn, Evan’s running mate for Vice President. As you know, the campaign was required to file paperwork in order to qualify as a write-in. At the time, a formal Vice Presidential pick had not yet been made. However, Evan’s trusted friend Nathan Johnson offered to step up and fill the Vice Presidential slot in order to meet the legal requirements of write-in filings. Therefore, when casting a write-in vote, the vote should be cast for “Evan McMullin” and “Nathan Johnson.”

In the event that the election is pushed to the House of Representatives, Nathan Johnson would then resign as the Vice Presidential nominee to be replaced by Mindy Finn.

In summary, please be sure to follow any instructions regarding write-in votes on the ballot or posted at the polling place. In the space provided for write-in candidates for President and Vice President, please write “Evan McMullin” and “Nathan Johnson.”
